Pacquiao is holed up in Baguio City, a high altitude area in northern Philippines where he is training and sparring with some of the world's popular boxing champions including Jose Luis Castillo, former lightweight champion, and popular American boxer Danny Escobar. Abs-Cbn news reports:
Pacquiao, meanwhile, took the time in his column to sympathize with those who were affected by flooding and landslides caused by rains brought by the storms “Ondoy” (international code name Ketsana) and “Pepeng” (international code name Parma). With his tough challenge against Cotto just weeks away, Pacquiao said he keeps in mind the toughest challenge that calamity-stricken Filipinos are facing at the moment.
Manny Pacquiao is considered the world's most popular boxer. He is fresh from a knock out victory over Ricky Hatton of England in their encounter last May in Las Vegas, Nevada, while Miguel Cotto won over Clottey of Ghana on points. In the meantime, fans of Manny Pacquiao in the Philippines, are calling on the Filipino boxing superstar to immediately leave his training camp in Baguio City and move to the Wild Card in in Los Angeles, California where he can stay focused and concentrate on his training and physical conditioning. Pacquiao fans complain that the pound-for-pound king is facing too much distractions while on training in Baguio City as he often mixes with the crowd during his outdoor running and jogging schedules outside of his gym.
